Sailing -- Maine -- Atlantic Coast

A humorous account kept by J.S. Bradford of a sailing trip made by a group of friends in 1905. Arriving in Boston after traveling by boat from somewhere south of Long Island, N.Y., the group went by train to Portsmouth, N.H., where they boarded the sailing ship Valiant. They then sailed to Bar Harbor, Maine and back; the log recounts their activities both on the vessel as well as while visiting friends ashore.

Myron Corbett’s mostly unpublished magazine article efforts, including “Once Upon an Island” and a manuscript entitled “Sunset In the East” describing and chronically the history of the waning days of sail, the island lighthouses and those families and individuals who were involved.
