Ephraim Flint Papers

Abstract

The collection includes correspondence of Ephraim Flint from 1839 to 1867, with most of the letters dating from 1847 to 1853. The letters mostly concern political appointments sought by Flint and others along with some letters involving his law practice. The collection also contains deeds, legal papers, notes and receipts dating from 1850 to 1867.

Lakewood Theatre Company Records

Abstract

The collection consists primarily of photographs including studio portraits of Herbert L. Swett; photographs of Grant Mills, his office at the theater, and his home in Norwalk, Conn.; images of the theater building and grounds; and a few photographs of scenes from unidentified plays. The collection also contains abstracts for property titles for Lakewood, 1961; a map showing land of the Lakewood Golf Club, 1970; and a few newspaper clippings, and other ephemera.

Hiram Kelley Morrell Papers

Abstract

The collection consists of miscellaneous papers of Hiram K. Morrell, including correspondence from 1898 about a dispute with the Gardiner Water Power Co. over water damages to Morrell's property and a draft of a letter written by Morrell in 1903 to Andrew Carnegie asking for money for the public library in Gardiner. Also included are lists of names and addresses perhaps of subscribers to or advertisers in the Gardiner Home Journal.

The collection contains material concerning student political activity on the University of Maine campus at Orono during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It includes materials about Students for a Democratic Society, Young Workers Liberation League, General Left Caucus, Vietnam War protests, student strike in May 1970, position papers, and correspondence.
