Photographs -- Maine

A collection of Dinsmore / Rich family genealogy materials including over three hundred photos pertaining to outdoor life, women, and family gatherings.

The collection is comprised of 6 archive boxes full of notes, recordings, photos, videos, CD ROMs and computer databases, collected between 1995 and 2007. Some of these materials are unlabeled and will require some research to identify the contents.

The folders mainly contain textual material, particularly; correspondence, memorandums, press releases, and reports. But there are some books, photographs and artifacts such as plaques, banners, and a medal and media such as cassette, video, and radio tapes, film and Compact Discs.

The collection consists of two photographs of Main Street in Bangor, Maine, taken from the same vantage point about 100 years apart. The approximate time periods of the photos are 1902 and 2002 respectively. The artist is Cindy McIntyre.

The collection contains photographs taken by Edwin R. Starbird, a professional photographer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, specializing in views of the Maine woods. Collection also contains one folder of Starbird family papers.

Includes one photograph from Starbird's Rangeley Lake Views series, one from his Views of Tim Pond and the Seven Ponds series, seven from the Woods of Maine series, and four from the area around Katahdin Iron Works.
