Harold Wilhelm Coffin Scrapbook

Scope and Contents

A scrapbook compiled by Coffin while a student at the University of Maine. It contains signatures and comments of class members as well as programs and photographs of campus life, fraternity and social events. It also includes copies of college entrance exams, grade reports and college invoices. Of particular interest are items documenting Coffin's membership in the Theta Chi fraternity and postcards and photographs of college scenes and buildings.

Biographical Note

Harold W. Coffin was born in Portland, Maine in 1891. He was a member of the class of 1916 at the University of Maine, majoring in electrical engineering. He married Grace Bristol, also a graduate of the University of Maine, and they had five children. Harold Coffin was in the military for 30 years, serving in both World War I and World War II. He also worked for Bangor Hydro Electric Co. Coffin died on July 19, 1972.
