Biographical / Historical
The Philological Club was first organized on November 20, 1899 by University of Maine President Abram Winegardner Harris and professors Karl Pomeroy Harrington, John Homer Huddilston, and Edwin Brynant Nichols. The meetings featured presentations on a range of subjects related to the study of language and was attended by faculty and students.
