Fundraising material details the moving and reopening of the Museum of Art in its current downtown Bangor location. Fliers provide a glimpse of artist's work, names of artist, and dates of their exhibits. Announcements are more comprehensive and discuss all artists of a certain exhibition, along with dates of their birth and countries of origins. Announcements also provide information about events and programs that were held at the Museum of Art during an exhibition.

Biographical / Historical
The University of Maine Museum of Art was established in 1946 by faculty member and curator Vincent Hartgen. Originally the museum was called the University of Maine Art Collection and was under the Department of Art. In 1988, the museum was renamed the University of Maine Museum of Art and became its own entity. Before moving to its current downtown Bangor location, it was located in Carnegie Hall on the University of Maine campus in Orono. The permanent collection of the University of Maine Museum of Art include artist such as Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichenstien and Robert Rauschenberg.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Folders 1-8 were transferred to Special Collections on May 29, 2019 by Kari Beaty, Special Collections Student Worker, who also worked at the Museum.
Folders 9-11 were added in August 2022, from material curated by former special collections archivist Muriel Sanford.

Processing involved a collection survey and the creation of this finding aid. The material was rehoused into appropriate archival folders and the boxes and folders numbered and titled using information from ArchivesSpace.
