Mostly contains textual information created and curated by University of Maine professor of electrical engineering Edmund MacMillan "Ned" Sheppard.
The record series Board of Trustee and Budget Records contains information Sheppard curated during his tenure as the faculty representative to the University of Maine System Board of Trustees including meeting packages, reports, Sheppard’s notes, and copies of budget reports and presentations including for specific departments affected by cuts.
The record series Telecommunications & Information Technology Records contains meeting material, items regarding the history of the University of Maine’s Electrical & Computer Engineering, and a copy of the paper “Instructional Communication Satellite System for the U.S.” which Sheppard authored during his residency at the RAC Astro- Electronic Division at Princeton, New Jersey. Also, includes various correspondence, memorandums, reference material, committee reports, planning and meeting material related to the Telecommunications & Information Department.

Biographical Note
Edmund MacMillan "Ned" Sheppard was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1933. He earned his B.S.E.E. in 1956 at the University of Miami, S.M.E.E. in 1958 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Ph.D. in 1962 at Purdue University. He taught at M.I.T. and Purdue before becoming a professor at the University of Maine teaching electrical engineering in 1962. In 1967, Sheppard as part of a Ford Foundation residency took a sabbatical at the RAC Astro- Electronic Division at Princeton, New Jersey. While at the University of Maine Sheppard also served as the faculty representative to the University of Maine Board of Trustees. In 1997, Sheppard retired from the University of Maine.
Edmund Sheppard died in 2016 at the age of 82.

Physically the boxes are arranged by subject. The Board of Trustee records are secondary arranged by year in chronological order. File names and dates were added. Material was rehoused into archival quality storage.
