Historical Note
In 1871 David Golder built an Excelsior Mill in Belgrade Mills, Maine, and soon sold it to Nathaniel Towle and S.C. Mills. They sold the mill after a few years to Towle & Austin, probably in 1879. Sometime in the early 1890s E.W. Towle bought out Austin and ran the mill.
