Scope and Contents

Scrapbooks compiled by Marie Haines Pancoast while a student at the University of Maine. They contain programs, photographs and memorabilia of campus activities and social and sorority life. Topics of particular interest within the scrapbooks include newspaper clippings about activities on campus concerning World War II and programs, souvenirs, etc. from Phi Mu sorority.

Biographical Note

Marie Haines Pancoast was born in Waterville, Maine, on April 19, 1924. She was a member of the class of 1945 at the University of Maine. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. where she met and married Robert A. Pancoast. A homemaker and mother of four children, Ms. Pancoast was active in many civic and fraternal organizations. She died on Oct. 8, 1991.
