Historical Note

Miss Chadbourne was a professor of Education at the University of Maine. She was born in Mattawamkeag in 1875, graduated from the University of Maine with her AB in 1915, obtained her MA in 1918 and PhD. from Columbia in 1922. She retired as a full professor in 1942. She authored four books and belonged to Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, and Delta Delta Delta. Chadbourne Hall is named in her honor.
