Biographical Note
Jasper J. Stahl was born in 1886 in Waldoboro, Maine. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1909, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He taught at Reed College from 1911-1917 and was Director of Studies at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania from 1918-1947, with a brief time in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He was a historian of Waldoboro and author of "History of Old Broad Bay and Waldoboro." He also studied Germans in Maine.
