Biographical Note
The Delano family lived in the Guilford/Abbot, Maine area. Washington Warren Delano, born Feb. 4, 1847 in Guilford, Maine, was the son of John and Mehitable Warren Delano and married Elizabeth Hartwell, daughter of Lysander and Lucy Rollins Hartwell. They had four children, Richard Hartwell Delano (born 1879), Edward Warren Delano (born 1880), Philip Hartwell Delano (born 1884), and Helen Hartwell Delano (born 1885). Edward Warren Delano was a University of Maine graduate. Edward's daughter Elizabeth Delano Whiteman was the collector of these photographs and papers.
