Historical Note

The Saco and Biddeford Village Corporation for the Extinguishment of Fires was created to raise money for the purchase, repair and preservation of fire engines, hose or other apparatus for the extinguishment of fire, for the construction of reservoirs and aqueducts for the procuring of water, and for organizing and maintaining within the towns of Saco and Biddeford an efficient fire department. In 1846 the corporation was dissolved and the property apportioned to the two towns.
