Legal papers of a family in Biddeford and Hollis, Maine. Included are a 1743 deed from Benjamin Haley of Biddeford to his son Samuel Haley of Biddeford; an extract from town records of Biddeford dated August 23, 1800 relating to the sale of land in Winter Harbor Flatts to Benjamin Haley; deeds dated 1797 and 1803 and two dated 1805 from Joseph Haley of Biddeford to Sylvester Haley of Biddeford; deeds dated 1817 and 1819 from Noah Haley of Hollis to Joseph Haley 3rd of Hollis; a 1782 deed from Samuel Haley of Biddeford to his son Silvester of Biddeford; deeds dated 1752 and 1773 from Samuel Haley of Biddeford to Joseph Haley of Biddeford; a power of attorney dated 1806 from Joseph Haley of Biddeford to Sylvester Haley of Biddeford; a court summons to Silvester Haley of Biddeford dated 1814; and a receipt dated 1787 for payment of a note against the estate of Samuel Haley.

Biographical Note
The Haley family lived in Biddeford and in Hollis during the time these legal papers were executed. The Haley names mentioned in these papers are Benjamin of Biddeford, Silvester of Biddeford, Samuel of Biddeford, Joseph of Biddeford, Sylvester of Biddeford, Noah of Hollis, and Joseph Haley 3rd of Hollis. It was impossible to determine the relationships between these people since there were so many Haleys living in Biddeford and Hollis. The only relationships mentioned in the deeds are that Samuel was the son of Benjamin (1743 deed) and Silvester was the son of Samuel (1782 deed)
