Biograhical Note

Theophilus W. Allan was a merchant and lumber mill owner in Dennysville and Edmunds, Maine. He built a general store in Dennysville in the early 1800s and started a lumbering operation in 1821 at Great Works in Edmunds. The family also owned a wharf on the Dennys River in Edmunds. T.W. Allan's sons, Nelson S. and William R. Allen were also involved in the family businesses.
