William T. Mace Commonplace Book
Scope and Contents
A volume used by William T. Mace of Readfield, Maine, to write copies of essays on subjects such as clouds, newspapers, and spring, as well as various aspects of United States history. One essay, written in 1885 from Bearce Hall to Professor Strong, describes the scenery of Kents Hill and was presumably written from Kents Hill School, a private school located in Kents Hill, Maine. Later parts of the volume contain memoranda from 1886-1892 describing daily activities on a farm and recording sales of cattle, 1889-1892.
