Biographical Note

The name of the diary writer is unknown, but she appeared to be a housewife. Her husband George probably was a laborer and often worked for H.O. Bixby. She had a child Fanny who often seemed to be ill. Daisy and Rosa may have been other daughters and Mark a son. It is unknown what state or village the family lived in. At the end of the diary is an address for someone living in Athens, Maine. Village names mentioned are Randolph, North Randolph, and Brookfield.
