Toothaker Family Papers
Scope and Contents Note
The papers, mostly correspondence, of a family living in Phillips, Maine. Many of the letters are from Grace to her husband Edgar in 1908 when he was a patient at the Maine General Hospital in Portland, Maine. Included also are letters to Edgar from his children, a Christmas letter to Santa Claus from Lucille in December 1916, several Christmas cards and letters, a wedding invitation, letters to Grace from friends and relatives, and some letters to Lucille, Holman, and Olive. Included also is an unidentified photograph.

Biographical Note
Edgar R. Toothaker, a grocer in Phillips, Maine, was born about 1868. He married Grace M. Melcher of Hebron, Maine in 1904, and they had 4 children: Lucille M. (1905-1977), Holman M. (born about 1908), Olive C. (born about 1910), and James E. (born about 1912)
