Biographical Note

George A. LaBonte was born in Jackman, Maine in 1923. He was in the U.S. Navy in World War II, then went to the University of Maine graduating in 1951 with a B.S. He earned his M.S. in botany from the University of Maine in 1958. He worked for the Maine Forest Service as an entomologist beginning in 1949. He was with the Maine Forest Service until 1981, ending as State Entomologist. He co-authored "Trees of Maine."
