Biographical Note
Edward Oswald Schriver was born in Westbrook, Maine in 1931 and died in 1994 in Orono, Maine. He received his undergraduate degree at Gorham State College and then earned a degree in theology at Andover Newton Theological School before receiving master's and doctoral degrees in history from the University of Maine at Orono. He taught for 26 years in the history department at the University of Maine. He was the author of numerous books and articles on Maine and environmental history.
