Historical Note
In 1810 a Baptist Church was organized in Sullivan, Maine with twelve members. In 1816, owing to a misunderstanding, a division was caused which resulted in the organizing of a minority into a separate church. In 1824 seventeen members were dismissed from the Baptist Church in Sullivan and organized as a Baptist Church in Hancock with the building located in South Hancock.
