Biographical Note
Nathaniel H. Carter was born 1787 Sept. 17 in Concord, N.H., and died 1830 Jan. 2 in Marseilles, France. He was an author and a teacher in Portland, Me., and Salisbury, N.H. In about 1818(?) he moved to New York, where he became editor of the Albany Register, which later became the New York Stateman and then the Statesman.
