Biographical Note

John Philipp Schott, a military veteran of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine American War, was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on May 28, 1879. He enlisted in the 65th New York Vol. Infantry, Company K, on May 1st, 1898. He was discharged on Nov. 17th, 1898. He re-enlisted on Dec. 6, 1898 at Savannah, Georgia, and was discharged on April 30, 1899. He re-enlisted in Buffalo, N.Y. on July 31, 1899 and was discharged at Presidio, Calif., on May 13, 1901. He married Annetta Elizabeth Mang in Buffalo in 1907. He and his wife lived in Chicago after his service. He worked in a storage battery shop as a shipping clerk.
